One of the main ways to get involved in helping to shape the future of the NHS in North East Hampshire and Farnham is to become a community ambassador.
Ambassadors are ordinary people who live in our communities, acting as our eyes and ears. They meet with us regularly, help shape our thinking, and seek the views of local people and organisations on our plans.
They also have an important role to play in being a ‘critical friend’ – people who will challenge us to make sure that we really are doing the best for local people, not what we think is the best.
We’re always looking for new ambassadors and welcome applications from anyone in the local community. You don’t have to be a frequent user of health or social care services, or to have skills in any particular area. The only criteria we’ve set is that you are at least 18 years of age, and are able to commit some time every month to fulfilling the role.
We’ve put together some frequently asked questions (FAQs) which are used by our current ambassadors when out speaking in the community. These will give you an insight into what their role involves and more about Happy, healthy, at home. document You can download the FAQs here. (90 KB)
How to apply
We would love to hear from you if you are interested in becoming an ambassador. Simply click on the ‘Contact us’ tab to find out how to get in touch with us.
We’ll ask you to fill out a confidential registration form which tells us a bit more about you so that we can align you to the type of work that is most likely to appeal to you and your skills. We’ll then match you to a workstream or piece of work that is the best ‘fit’. document Please download the form here. (81 KB)
Don’t be put off thinking that this is something you’ve never done before - we don’t throw you in at the deep end, unprepared.
All our ambassadors attend an orientation programme so that you truly feel part of what we’re doing, and know who to ask if anything is not clear. We are here to support you in your ambassadorial role, every bit as much as we hope you will support Happy, healthy, at home.
